Welcome to The Concurrent Teacher Education Program at the University of Toronto
The Concurrent Teacher Education Program is an inspiring pathway to becoming a teacher. It is a great choice for graduating high school students and first-year university students interesting in a rewarding career in education. This innovative program allows you to earn two undergraduate degrees simultaneously. One degree, the undergraduate discipline-based degree, provides the depth of knowledge in your teaching areas along with several introductory education-focused courses and field experiences. The other degree, the Bachelor of Education degree, helps you develop the practical skills to apply that knowledge effectively as a teaching professional. Graduates of this program therefore complete two degrees: a Bachelor of Education (BEd) with recommendation for teaching certification in Ontario, and one of the following: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Music (BMus), or Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (BPHE). Graduates of our program qualify for certification as elementary or secondary teachers in Ontario. ![]() The program is available at all three University of Toronto campuses. You are able to choose not only the location that works best for you, but also your area of study. The University of Toronto is one of the largest and most research-intensive universities in North American with over 100 years of experience in preparing teachers.
